Bedroom design hacks on a budget

Let’s face it – money is going to be a bit tight for a lot of people in these uncertain times. But what’s also true is that we are going to be at home A LOT for who knows how long. So we thought we would look at some top tips for how you can give your bedroom a refresh on a budget and, importantly, with stuff you can get delivered to your door.

Removable Wallpaper

Be bold and be daring, or be understated and conservative. Whatever takes your fancy removable wallpaper will allow you to experiment with colours and patterns you have always wanted to try but have been too afraid to! Removable wallpaper allows you to ‘peel and stick’. So a feature wall becomes possible, very easily and, if you don’t like it, peel it off and throw it away.

Colour Pop

A splash of colour will add new life to a drab room. Whether you experiment with a feature cushion or a bedspread you can add life and colour to your room, cost-effectively, with some soft furnishings. Many manufacturers will buy colours by season, mustard was huge in 2018/19, for instance, so you can pick up some bargains on ‘collections’, especially if you buy at the end of the fashion ‘season’ (June/July or January/February).

Mirror, mirror on the wall

Mirrors have been a popular choice for adding space to rooms for ages. The reflection creates the illusion of space, many restaurants use mirrors to make their premises look bigger and busier. You probably wouldn’t want your bedroom to look busier but for many of us (especially if you live in a new build home) will want more space and second best, will be the appearance of more space. You could consider hanging another mirror on a wall or even use a free-standing mirror which can be used for dressing.

Try some two-tone

We love ‘The Specials’ but we’re not talking about two-tone music here. You can achieve a startling look with a couple of cans of paint. The darker colour should always go at the bottom and the lighter shade will draw your eye upwards. This simple hack can add a much-needed refresh for any room but especially the bedroom which is often neglected when it comes to redecorating.

We hope these design ideas have helped! And, if budget is an issue for you when it comes to a planned refresh of your bedroom you may want to consider one of our TV beds on Finance from our extensive range of TV beds. If you are thinking about a TV Bed, think about The TV Bedstore.
